Pottery Wheel                      

This is a comprehensive class teaching beginner to mid-level potters the beautiful skill of throwing on an electric pottery wheel.  Kick wheels are also available for advanced students.  The course will cover throwing, footing, handle-pulling, lids and tea pot spouts.  Students will use a  white, low grog, earthenware clay body for the majority of the course with a short section on mixed clay bodies with terracotta.

9:45am - 11:30am           

8+ Years / $200 per student including clay and firing fees. *

 

Cartooning w/ Joe Di Guiseppi

Students will:

·       Understand how to draw facial expressions and the anatomical proportions of various

         cartoon bodies.

·       Explore different styles of cartooning (Manga, modern, classic & more)

·       Identify their own preferences of individual drawing style.

·       Learn to draw & create their own cartoon characters

·       Learn techniques in drawing, inking & color pencil.

·       Learn about storyboarding and how to develop comics.

 

Supply list:

·       Sketch book

·       2B Pencil (regular or mechanical)

·       Eraser

·       Extra fine point sharpie or black inking pen

·       Color pencils (min. 24 colors).

·       Joe is a popular artist and longtime homeschool teacher, who my son, Tucker, thinks rocks

         the world!  Tucker cannot wait to get back into a class with Joe and he hopes to see

         some old and new friends in the class with him~   

·       10am - 11:30am / 9+ years                     

 

Clay Sculpture

Students will explore clay technique, using such classic skills as coil, slab, and pinch, to create individual and beautiful works of art.  Students will choose their own version of each project, with complete artistic freedom to explore the endless possibilities.  Projects will include vessels, containers, animals and decorative pieces.

1:30pm - 3pm / Ages 7 – 16 years; 8 weeks, 1 -1/2 hours per class

8+ years / $180 per student including clay and firing fees. *  

   

*Glazing is presented in a separate course offered Friday afternoons from 2 - 5pm

$10 for up to 3 hours.  Fee for glaze and second firing additional $4 - $10 per piece depending on size of piece.
